The 10th International Exhibition of Iranian Electricity Industry kicked off on Thursday as many local private companies are complaining about the problems they constantly have to cope with them.

In the meantime, according to some Iranian electricity industrialists, the import of low-quality Chinese electricity equipments and components has not only challenged local private companies and dominated the market, but has led to insecurity in the electricity network of the country. As a matter of fact, using low-quality components and their early breakdown has caused many problems for the electricity network and consumers.

As Kambiz Taherkhani, the executive director of Dalman Co. and the member of Iranian Electricity Industry Syndicate points out, the importation of goods from anonymous Chinese companies to the country is one of the reasons behind the insecurity and power failure in the Iranian electricity network.

In an interview he answered all questions:

It is being said that currently Iranian electricity industry is coping with major problems due to unavailability of new technology. How do you evaluate the current utilized technologies in our electricity industry?

Definitely one of the main reasons lies in the sanctions. Unfortunately because of clamped sanctions in recent years we have not been able to attract new technologies in a progressive manner. Nowadays Iranian companies are producing with old technologies, some of them date back to 30 years ago or with old equipments which result to both low productivity and waste of energy and investments.

What's your view about the privatization in electricity industry?

This policy is currently followed but unfortunately hurried privatization has deprived real electricity industrialists and private sector from buying the shares. Such an approach will pose many problems for the management of industrial units and their constant activities in future.

Do you believe that subsidy reform bill can contribute to the development of electricity industry of our country

In the worst situation energy expenses consist more than 5 to 10% of cost process in electricity industry. So the rise of energy expenses will inevitably have an impact on this industry and will increase the cost prices and consequently selling price. It seems that the only Way for confronting such a negative impact is using up-to-date technologies and uplifting the productivity, otherwise it won't be far-fetched that we will be dropped out of markets particularly international markets.
