As the Iranian government insisted on doubling its revenue from implementing subsidy cut plan compared to what ratified by the Parliament (majlis), the dispute between the two branches over the issue renewed yesterday.

According to Khabar Online correspondent, the parliamentary undersecretary of Iranian president responded to the lawmaker's rejection of government request on increasing revenues out of the plan execution. After two weeks of argument, he maintained that the government headed by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stresses on gaining 400 trillion rials (40 billion US dollars) from the plan not 200 trillion rials approved by the Majlis. He added that if the administration's demand is not met, it won't fulfill the task.

Lawmakers responded differently to the statement made yesterday by Mohammad Reza Mir Taj-e Dini.

Some said that that the issue has got nothing to do with the parliamentary undersecretary of Iranian president, believing he is not in a rank to make such a position against the parliament. Some others moved ahead to say that the government is threatening the Majlis in an attempt to get extort.

Meanwhile by taking a more moderate stance, several lawmakers proposed resolutions for the government's problem and some who back the administration referred to the parliament's procedural guidelines to meet the statesmen's demand.

The head of economy committee of the parliament, Arsalan Fathipour a government backer MP said that even if the budget combination committee of the parliament votes for lowering the government's revenue out of subsidy plan execution, it can achieve the goal through other ways ahead. He hoped that regarding the administration constrain, the MPs show a green light to remove the problem or agree on an average among allocating 300 trillion rials to the government.

The other lawmaker, Mohammad Shahrzad who is a member of the budget combination committee and a supporter of the government said the members are considering the statesmen's argument and try to allocate a budget enabling them to put the subsidy cut plan into practice. Referring to different schemes offered by the administration, he hoped that the budget combination committee and the Parliament in general, make the final compromising decision on the issue.

At the same time, a number of other lawmakers took an assertive position against what the government's parliamentary undersecretary said. Mohammad Khabbaz, the speaker of economy committee saw his statement as an attempt by the government to blackmail the Parliament. Emphasizing that government should not be allowed to receive the demanded revenue by threatening the Majlis, he said that raising such issues will disrupt stability and security of the country's economic climate and leads to a false inflation rate.

Jamshid Ansari, the other member of the budget combination committee also pointed out that making comments on subsidy reform project is not relevant to the government's parliamentary undersecretary. He said that actually economy, oil or welfare ministers are tasked with stating on the issue.

Referring to the background of Mir Taj-e Dini as a lawmaker Ansari added that Ahmadinejad's aide is fully aware of the Majlis status, so instead of confronting the entity, the government should be accountable for implementing subsidy reform bill and avoid shunning the plan.

Earlier in a dispute with the Majlis over the method of implementing subsidy reform plan, the administration had been accused by the lawmakers of recourse to unlawful acts.
