Eshagh Jahangiri, the Minister of Industries and Mines in the cabinet of former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said: "After the late presidential vote on June 12, the chances of progress lost for the country."

Speaking to Khabar Online, he stated: "The presidential election campaigns gave a new momentum to people and inspired all political currents to come to the same. The political climate of the country turned passionate leading large crowds of people to go to the polls and set a new record in the history of Iranian elections."

"The participation of 85 percent of Iranian people provided an opportunity to solve all the problems faced by the country and pass it through the crises of that time. But regrettably in opposition, the chance turned to a new threat making the country so vulnerable.

Facing the post-election turmoil demanded so much energy and wasted the resources, so no opportunity was left to focus on the ways of improving the country and it's so worrying," Jahangiri pointed out.

He went on to say: "In the meantime the most important chance lost was avoiding to make use of efficient managers who have earlier gained precious experiences but at the moment due to political confrontations and the cliquishness, the country cannot employ the potential human resources and it's going to become a grave problem for the Islamic Republic."

"Appointing efficient managers could prepare the ground for initiating an appropriate economic growth. Actually the golden opportunities provided for each country are so limited, so winning country is the one which can get the best out of managing the human and other existing sources," the former Minister said.

"However even after the oil price reached to a new peak and the world went through an economic recession, unfortunately due to mismanagement Iran could not exploit the unique historical chance and it's so deplorable," Jahangiri concluded.
