Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the Islamic Republic will take measures to retaliate the harassing move of those members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) which passed resolution 1929.

At a news conference held yesterday, Mottaki said: "The West powers press the countries to endorse these resolutions, but carrying out such actions would be problematic. We think those who pass such resolutions know that they can not be put into practice and are doomed to fail."

"Currently the easiest work in the world is trade. We have planned retaliatory actions and will give an appropriate response to those who are to impose new rounds of sanctions against us. We are living in a sensitive region. We have always stressed that the security of Persian Gulf should be checked by all the countries in the region and no state can separate itself on the pretext of security issues," he added.

The Islamic Republic has stressed it will retaliate should its ships be searched over suspicions that the cargo may violate the new sanctions.

The Foreign Minister asserted: "We will counter the psychological warfare the enemies wage against us with a soft warfare aimed at defaming the United Nations Security Council."

On the sidelines of the G 15 summit held in Tehran on May 17, Iran Brazil and Turkey signed an agreement to send the Islamic Republic's uranium abroad for more enrichment. However the fourth round of the United Nations sanctions against Iran passed early this month over what the West powers claim is a nuclear program for producing weapons. Tehran firmly rejects the allegation insisting that the program is aimed at peaceful purposes including producing electricity.

The new UNSC sanctions includes the freezing of assets belonging to 40 Iranian companies and organizations, including 15 related to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and 22 other allegedly involved in nuclear or ballistic missile activities.

It also prevents the Islamic Republic from investing in activities such as uranium mining, and bans the export of several categories of heavy weapons, including helicopters and missiles to Iran.
