The new statement contradicts with what officials had earlier said that heart attack was the cause of his death.

The reason behind the death of the doctor was one of the issues focused by the representatives of Iranian media. According to an earlier interview Khabar Online conducted with the speaker of Health Committee of Iranian Parliament (Majlis), the result of the forensics probation on the demise of Dr. Pourandarjani was supposed to be announced last week, but it delayed to yesterday and after nine days was finally declared by Tehran's Prosecutor General.
"As forensic evidences reveal, the doctor has been poisoned by a drug," Ja'fari Dolatabadi said at the ceremony.
On the type of drugs caused the death of Pourandarjani, he explained: "Some pills in the salad on his desk testify to the result of forensic probation which shows that he died of drug poisoning but the investigations are being continued to affirm if the doctor was murdered or committed suicide."
"A person who had brought food for Pourandarjani has been identified and investigated. He says when he fetched a food for the doctor, he had locked the door and locked it again after receiving his meal," Tehran's Prosecutor General noted.
He added: "The investigation have already begun on the doctor's phone calls and e-mails. His parents have also been asked to provide more information and the probation is carried on."
