A number of officials from Iranian police attended the Parliament (Majlis) yesterday to give details on the death of Ramin Pourandarjani, the young medical doctor who was serving at Kahrizak detention center.

The center was the place where several post-election detainees had been held there. Meanwhile the lawmaker, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian said evidences do not suggest that he had committed suicide.

Speaking to Khabar Online on the issue, Pezeshkian a member of the health committee of the Parliament stated: "I'm among those who seriously follow the case. Until now we have realized that he did not suffer mental disorder and cannot be accused of committing suicide. It seems that he was both physically and psychologically safe and sound. We even probed and concluded that he heart attack was not the cause of his death."

He went on to say: "We make our utmost effort to shed light on the issue. However we haven't received the coroner's report which may change the entire presumptions."

"We also asked for the help of his colleagues and tried to provide information from his workplaces. Having probed his behavior, I traveled to Tabriz (a major city in the northwest of Iran) and met his family. The meeting and further investigation confirmed that he was healthy and sane.
