There are rumors about an impending oust of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, the current president of Iran's Academy of Arts (IAA) within the next two weeks.

A possible replacement will be Mahdi Kalhor, Ahmadinejad's ally and his advisor for media affair.

According to Khabar Online correspondent, after the recent changes made to the statutes of Iranian academies by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the chancellor of Iran's Academy of Arts is authorized to replace the current president of the entity. A move which many believe is politically motivated.

Under the previous statutes, the presidents of four Iranian academies were being elected by the boards of trustees within the entities.

The ongoing political confrontations in the country have provided the ground for the dismissal of Mousavi, former Prime Minister and presidential candidate who is a veteran architect and painter. But the question is who will be appointed by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution and Ahmadinejad as his successor.

Unofficial reports indicate the names of possible candidates for taking IAA president's chair, also there are new members to be joined to the academy. Meanwhile as the government tries to introduce and establish Mahdi Kalhor in the cultural and artistic domains of the country, he can be one of the supposed nominees.
