The leading Iranian nuclear scientist, Dr Masoud Ali Mohammadi, 50, who died in a terrorist attack Tuesday morning was not associated with the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran.

Ali Shirzadian, speaker and the director of public relations department of the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran expressed the agency's condolences over the demise of the respected professor of Tehran University, Masoud Ali Mohammadi to his family and scientific society of the country.

In the statement, the security and judiciary officials are asked to identify and arrest those behind the terrorist attack immediately. But it strongly denies that the scientist was employed by the Atomic Energy Agency of Iran.

Ali Mohammadi has written many articles on theoretical physics in local and international scientific journals. He was killed when a motorbike carrying a remote-controlled bomb blasted in the street outside his home in northern Tehran.
