Politics- Deputy Speaker of Iranian Parliament (Majlis), Mohammad Reza Bahonar censured the vigilantes who attempt to undertake law enforcement against the opponents, before the orders of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are issued.

Stressing that the late presidential election is over, he asked the opposition leaders who believed widespread irregularities occurred in the election to be accountable for the high prices they imposed on the Islamic Republic system.

Bahonar said that the recent turmoil placed a heavy burden on the establishment: "In the meantime, some forces fulfilled their responsibility on time, but some took hasty measures and others delayed. The sedition imposed heavy expenses on us which will be simply realized in future."

"Many officials have neglected daily responsibilities and are engaged in a game designed by the enemy. If we are to put out the fire of sedition in the country, we should not add fuel to it," he opined.

Bahonar referred to a speech made by the Supreme Leader on January 9: "Ayatollah Khamenei asked judiciary branch and legislative bodies to take firm measures against those who endanger the security of the establishment. On the other hand, the leader underlined that those who are not in charge of judicial tasks should avoid meddling in such affairs."

The lawmaker went on to say: "Through their simplistic analysis, world arrogance and above them the United States had accounted on the post-vote unrest. They are making serious efforts to halt the advancing process of Islamic revolution. Against the grain of diplomacy, they have become lightheaded as the US officials manifest their delight over the turmoil in Iran and make no attempt to disguise that."

Censuring the government

Deputy Speaker of Iranian Parliament once again criticized the government for constant delays in submitting the annual budget bill: "We in the parliament are still discussing the issue of budget bill. Perhaps the plans for the next year are not that much significant but outside the country the analyses are made that due to the chaos within the country, the government are so troubled and cannot even conclude a bill."

He indicated that the Majlis cooperated with the administration on the issue of subsidy reform bill: "We gave a free hand to the government on implementing the subsidy plan, but simply within a defined framework. The administration is authorized to use recovered revenues from executing the subsidy bill to compensate 2 million or up to 70 million people with direct cash."

"Under the article 44 of Islamic republic institution the government should be involved with executive tasks without taking other extensive responsibilities," Bahonar said.

Referring to the Iran's Islamic Association of Engineers as a political organization, he added: "Many members of this association are actively involved in the affairs of the government, the parliament and the Expediency Council. After 20 years of permanent activities, the Islamic Association of Engineers has always attempted to reasonably criticize the conditions and governments. Fortunately we have always been accused of being loyal to principlist values."
