He targeted Ahmadinejad's top aide at his speech made in the religious city of Qom on Monday.
Davood Ahmadinejad's recent move revealed his new approach which proves an increasing distance from the government which he was earlier a part of that. Davood Ahmadinejad is the former head of president's special inspections office, an entity with the investigative powers over the government agencies. But lately the relation between the two brothers has largely been under the shadow of ambiguity.
Like his sister Parvin, a Tehran city councillor, Davood Ahmadinejad or as he is called "Haji Davood" became known after Mahmoud took the presidential office in 2005.
In his recent visit to Qom, Haji Davood met a noted cleric, Ayatollah Alavi Gorgani. In his speech Davood Ahmadinejad criticized Rahim Mashaei, the close ally of his brother. Mashaei's comments particularly on religious issues have confronted with the disapproval of clerics and religious experts. He recently spoke on the mission of the prophet Noah (S), saying that despite living so long, he was not able to implement justice for his nation.
Conversely, on the pretext of censuring Islamic Republic of Iran's Broadcasting (IRIB), the secretary of Iranian Passive Defense Organization also blasted Ali Mottahari, a principlist lawmaker who is an obstinate critic of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his government for his latest comments on TV saying. Ahmadinejad said: "Although the freedom is exercised in the country, but such a freedom has not been defined and restricted."
The attacks of Haji Davood on Rahim Mashaei has led a number of the government officials and generals of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to control his words, those generals who have accompanied Mahmoud Ahmadinejad from the time he was Tehran's mayor.
One of these officials is Davood Danesh Ja'fari, the dismissed Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance in the ninth Islamic Republic cabinet. At his farewell ceremony, Danesh Ja'farior censured the government, but he also addressed the president's special inspections office and its head: "As I have been informed some who were disapproved of the administration organizations had been infiltrated to the president's inspections office."
IRGC General Ahmadi Khorshidi Azad whose son is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's son-in-law and was one of his main backers at the ninth presidential election is one of the blatant other critics of Haji Davood. After Davood Ahmadinejad resigned from the president's special inspections office, Khorshidi Azad called his "resignation" a "dismissal".
In his interview with the currently banned reformist newspaper, 'E'temad-e Melli', the IRGC commander stressed: "Fortunately the president dismissed his brother, the one who was culpable for the problems of the president's special inspections office. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad even ordered that his brother is not even allowed to appear at the entity and everyone knows about that."
