Iranian government headed by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad emphasizes it will gain 400 trillion rials by implementing subsidy reform plan.

In response, Mohammad Reza Khabbaz, a member of economy committee of the parliament regarded the statesmen's argument over the issue unrealistic and abnormal.

"The government says that the current year (1388, ends on March 20) is the first year of executing subsidy reform bill and [Iranian calendar year] 1389 will be the second! It's really astonishing! Since, if 1388 is the first year of implementing the plan, the administration's revenue out of it must reach to 200 trillion rials which is unimaginable to be earned within a month," he said.

The member of Imam Khomeini line fraction of the Parliament reacted to what announced by the head of economy committee of the Parliament that the word "beginning" in subsidy reform law was eliminated in the year 1389: "Taking advantage of this elimination, the administration has decided to see the current year as when the law begins to be enforced."

"But based on the discussions and agreements made in the Majlis, subsidy reform plan should be executed along with the Fifth Development Plan. Even on debates over passing the law, Mr. Larijani as the Parliament Speaker underlined that 1389 marks the beginning of subsidy reform law enforcement," Khabbaz pointed out.

He then asserted that despite such lawful arguments, the government won't listen to reason, insisting unreasonably on imposing its ideas: "It's like the government wants to make us believe day is night and night is day. Faced with illogical sayings of Mr. Ahmadinejad what we Parliament members can say?! Based on his usual tactic, he always drops the ball in the Majlis court."

"The statesmen act in a way seemingly believe they are among Immaculate Ones who never make a mistake, so they by no means feel they need to apologize," Khabbaz added.
