Iranian MP, Ahmad Tavakoli said the government's claim taking the current Iranian year (1388, ends on March 20) as the first year of subsidy reform implementation plan is ridiculous.

He pointed out that no one buys such justification and it also won't be accepted by combination committee of the Parliament, Khabar Online correspondent reported.

Tavakoli who represents Tehran in the Parliament (Majlis) reminded: "In the current year the administration has not taken an actual step for executing subsidy reform bill. The government should have requested the permission of the Majlis for amending the bill, but it didn't."

Despite agreements made between the Parliament and the government at a special committee tasked with observing subsidy reform bill, the latter has acted against what ratified by the former, increasing the estimated revenues to be gained from the implementation of subsidy reform plan from 200 trillion to 400 trillion rials.

On the reasons behind such a move the Principlist lawmaker said: "You may ask it from the government but from the view of the Majlis this act is against the law."

Tavakoli accused the administration of reversing the normal trend of implementing subsidy reform plan: "Before defining the prices and then estimating the government's revenues, the statesmen are to pay people first and then explore sources of revenue for financing such payment."

Earlier other Iranian MPs had maintained that taking the Iranian year of 1388 as the first year of the plan before its implementation by the government is unrealistic and abnormal.
