As the government is the executive branch, the Majlis must take measures to help the government remove obstacles on its way," said an Iranian lawmaker, Mohammad Kosari.
In a brief interview with Khabar Online, he opined: "The leader's remarks have a particular significance because draw on the execution of subsidy reform plan, a difficult task to be fulfilled by the government. So the Majlis must pass new laws to help the government overcome the problems."
Despite the insistence of the government on having 400 trillion rials ($40 billion) revenue to be recovered from implementing subsidy reform plan, the parliament approved just 200 trillion rials to be gained by raising the prices of energy carriers.
"The Majlis ratified the bill in spite of a disagreement with the administration over the issue, but now if the legislative body is to help the government, it must offer new legal initiatives enabling the statesmen to put the plan into practice," Kosari asserted.
"For implementing such a huge project one of the possible solutions is holding joint session to be attended by the lawmakers, economic experts of the government and the ministers to observe different aspect of the issue and resolve the problem. Otherwise it can be definitely said that the parliament does not intend to aid the administration," he said.
The government backer MP went on to say: "Certainly the Majlis does not intend to cause the government to fall, since the majority of lawmakers concerned for executing the plan. But they are also concerned for the possible sharp rise of the inflation rate. However inflation can be controlled by permanent supervision. So if the Majlis increases the subsidy reform plan budget to 300 trillion rials, it will be of great assistance for the government to implement the national project."
