Responding to an allegation made by German weekly magazine Der Spiegel, the secretary of Iran's expediency Council, Mohsen Rezaei rejected his life is at risk and called for more solidarity among Iranian people.

As reported by Khabar Online correspondent, the former head of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on the issue: "As the Iranian nation lives in peace and attempts to pave the way of more development, I think such issues are raised with distrustful intentions."

"The climate of cooperation and interaction is to be more overwhelming in the country," Rezai stated, "perhaps through making such allegations, some are trying to disrupt the peaceful climate and endanger cooperation, brotherhood of Iranian people."

He asked all political activists of the country to discard such claims in the new Iranian year as called by the supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the year of "Double Endeavor and Double Work."

The latest edition of Der Spiegel features an article which briefly draws on Rezaei who doesn't need permission to speak to journalists. It reads:

"Rezai quickly withdrew his protest [on the presidential election of June 12] after the leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, had declared the election legitimate.... Fear is a word that doesn't suit a former member of the Pasdaran [IRGC] who risked his life several times in the eight-year war with Iraq. But as the secretary of the Expediency Council, which resolves conflicts between laws and government policy, Rezai holds a high-ranking office that he could lose at any time. He knows that even his six bodyguards will be no protection if he sticks his neck out too far in Ahmadinejad's republic."
