The news department of Iranian Parliament (Majlis) denied that the Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani is to visit Iraq in the near future.

Earlier, a number of the Middle East news agencies, particularly Iraqi media had reported that Larijani will travel to Iraq soon to improve the ties between the two countries and discuss on the formation of the new Iraqi government.

But rejecting the reports, the Majlis' public relations department said the top Iranian legislator has no impending plan to visit Iran's neighboring country.

In December last year, Larijani traveled to Egypt and attended Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU). In Cairo he also held important meetings with high-ranking Egyptian officials in a bid to prepare the ground for a direct diplomatic relation between Tehran and Cairo.
