According to Khabar Online correspondent, 'In the Color of Purple' made by Ebrahim Hatamikia, 'Settlement' directed by Tahmineh Milani and 'Many Happy Returns!' by Saman Moqaddam are to be commercially released on the occasion of the new Iranian year.
Earlier, the same approach was adopted for the screening of the feature fiction, 'Fireworks Wednesday' (Cheharshanbeh Suri) in 2007. Directed by Asghar Farhadi, whose latest work, 'About Elly' won a Silver Bear for him at Berlin Film Festival 2009, the film proved successful in both critical and commercial terms.
'In the Color of Purple' which was to be premiered at the 23rd Fajr Film Festival, banned for five years. It was shown in the late Fajr Film Festival and received the award of the best screenplay at international competition section as well as the best film and director at Iranian competition section of the festival.
The film's narrative is centered on an intelligent agent who becomes romantically involved with the daughter of an opposition group's leader. Hamid Farokhnejad and Khazar Ma'soumi play the key roles in the feature. The public screening of 'In the Color of Purple' will begin on March 19.
'Settlement' was also shown at the 28th Fajr Film Festival after it was banned for three years. The plot revolves around four delinquent women who vow to take revenge of men. The cast includes Mahnaz Afhar, Ladan Mostofi, Aknar Abdi and Siavash Tahmoures.
Seemingly after a special screening at the 28th Fajr Film Festival, 'Many Happy Returns!' by Saman Moqaddam gained the attention of the audience. It persuaded a cinematic supervision body affiliated to Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to issue a screening license which had been denied to the feature for four years.
The protagonist of 'Many Happy Returns!' is a woman called Iran whose role played by Iranian prominent actress Fatemeh Mo'tamed Arya. The story spans three periods of Iranian contemporary history and the film is to be the second to receive public screening in Norouz.
