Mottaki said Iran seeks to increase comprehensive cooperation with African nations particularly in economic areas.
The top diplomat said Iran has been seriously pursuing close ties with African states over the past years.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he highlighted the importance of fostering national unity in Sudan.
Ismail, for his part, expressed hope his visit to Tehran would help expand relations between the two countries in political, economic, and cultural spheres.
The former Sudanese foreign minister said Iran’s policy toward Africa has delighted Africans and that Sudan attaches great importance to such policies.
He also pointed to the Islamic Revolution in 1979, saying the revolution does not belong only to Muslims as it has benefited all oppressed people around the world.
He also briefed Mottaki on the latest political developments in his country.
The two officials also discussed issues facing Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan.
