A top Iranian political expert, Davoud Hermidas Bavand believes that a hard-hitting response to the late resolution of UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear case will simply lead to further complications.

Therefore, in the current situation the best stance that Iranian government can take is to appoint new officials with alternative viewpoints to replace its incumbent nuclear negotiating team.

In an interview with Khabar Online, Bavand who is the faculty member of Law and Political Science School of Tehran University described what policy the Iranian government should adopt to prevent further UN resolutions against the country: "At this time Iran should follow two approaches. First, giving a clear response to the proposal made by Mohammmad ElBaradei, and second, replacement of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team with new officials who can suggest fresh ideas on the issue."

"Usually in such circumstances countries introduce new delegates to change the process, since their participation in international negotiations confirms that all officials and factions within the country pursue the same objectives and interests. It is absolutely important for preserving the prestige of any country. On the other hand, the new envoys can make fresh and different proposals which will pave the ground for resolving the problem," he said.

In his view, the late vote of IAEA board on Iran's nuclear program is rather a reproach than a condemnation, but Iranian government should prevent stricter decisions to be made by United Nations Security Council against the country.

Bavand regarded the new rectification of Iranian cabinet on the project for building 10 new uranium enrichment sites as a hurried decision: "After the new resolution of IAEA governors was made and the position expressed by 5+1 group against Iran, such responses will be seen as angry, rushed and retaliatory pronouncements which not only won't bring a new solution but make the problem more complicated."

He thinks that such a reaction provokes the international public opinion against Iran and gives legitimacy to the decisions made by 5+1 group.

"A retaliatory act will bring the risk of stricter resolutions against Iran by UN Security Council. As a matter of fact, such statements should not be made since they will be taken as defiance to international society which will expose the country to further pressures," Bavand added.
