Meanwhile none of the three Iranian projects for supplying LNG from the same field has not been implemented and they unlikely to be operational in the next five years.
As it has been announced currently Qatar's annual production of LNG is 45 million tons per year which is supposed to increase by nearly 77 million tons in the next 3 to 4 months since the new projects of the country are going to be executed in the North Field.
Based on the current prices of LNG which during the last years has been 4 dollars per a million BTU, Qatar has annually earned 80 billion dollars by exporting gas supplied from the North Field of Iran's South Pars. Due to a boost in gas production it is predicted that in 2010 the Qatari revenues of gas exports in the most optimistic condition will reach to 140 billion dollars.
However, 4 dollars per a million BTU is the lower price which can be considered for calculating the profits out of Qatar's LNG export. As a matter of fact just now a million BTU of Qatar's LNG is sold 11 dollars. Meanwhile 3 dollars are subtracted for production and transfer costs and 8 dollars will be the profit which is shared by Qatar government and the foreign company which has developed the project. So 4 dollars per a million BTU is the net profit received by Qatari government.
According to this report currently the various projects for producing LNG in North Field of Iran's South Pars has been halted due to the complications occurred in negotiations with foreign companies. It says that LNG trade throughout the world has annually increased by 18 5 million tons but although Iran gas reserves are estimated to be more than 27 trillion cubic meters, the country has not been able to gain a revenue from such a profitable market.
