According to Khabar Online correspondent who exclusively reported on the issue, the event took place at 8 to 12 a.m. Friday and was attended by the officials of Ahmadinejad election headquarters. Among them officials from the provinces of Azerbaijan and Mazandaran made speeches and after a known cleric, Ayatollah Haeri Shirazi delivered the a lecture, Iranian president in his turn made a speech.
During his speech, the government supporters shouted "Death to Mousavi!" But interestingly when the ceremony came to an end several attendants chanted slogans against Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, Ahmadinejad's close aide: "Mashaei Shame on You! Leave Ahmadi Alone!" and "Ahmadi Replace Mashaei!" They began to shout when the attendants were leaving the hall.
The protest occurred while Mashaei and Zaribafan, the head of Iran's Martyrs Foundation were accompanying Ahmadinejad at the event. Moreover several members of Ahmadinejad election headquarters signed a scroll condemning Rahim Mashaei. They addressed Ahmadinejad asking him to dismiss his chief of staff at presidential office.
"Our weak point in our arguments against your critics is Mashaei, the things which make us defenseless are remarks made by Mr. Mashaei," they told the president.
After the session came to an end, Ahmadinejad's backers followed criticizing Mashaei who anxiously and with difficulty left the hall.
Mashaei's controversial statements in various past occasions, for example on the possibility of a friendly relation between people of Iran and Israel have sparked the anger of top Iranian authorities. After the June election, Ahmadinejad appointed him as the first Vice-President. But his choice was opposed by several officials, above them Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. So Ahmadinejad was forced to replace him by Mohammad Reza Rahimi.
