Jalili made the remarks in a meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Khamrokhon Zarifi in Tehran on Tuesday.
He said Iran and Tajikistan, as two Persian-speaking countries, share numerous cultural and historical bonds. Jalili said Tehran is really interested in expanding comprehensive ties with Dushanbe.
Iran's top security official also pointed to common threats and opportunities facing the two countries.
Zarifi, for his part, said Dushanbe is ready to accelerate the implementation of the joint projects already under construction and introducing some new cooperation projects.
In last July, the Tajik foreign minister told reporters in Dushanbe that "we fully support Iran's right to research in the nuclear energy sphere for peaceful purposes."
