The poll included five categories, the best film, best screenplay, best director, best actor, and best actress. Two other secondary categories were the worst film of the festival and a new promising film.
According to the results, 'Nader and Simin: A Separation' written and directed by Farhadi received the most votes in three categories of the best film, best director and best screenplay. Moreover, for his anthology, Shahab Hosseini was picked as the best actor and Laila Hatami also gained the most votes as the best actress. Both of them performed in 'Nader and Simin'.
'Dissertation' by Hamed Kolahdari turned out to be the worst Film of the Festival according to the votes given by the 22 critics and experts while Africa by Houman Seyyedi was named as the promising film of the Festival.
'Nader and Simin' is shining in the competition section of Berlin Film Festival as well. The film has been praised by the viewers of Berlinale and is a candidate to win the coveted Golden Bear of the festival. Farhadi had earlier garnerd a Silver Bear for the best director in 2009 with his 'About Elly'.
The new film of Farhadi is centered on the story of Simin, a middle class Iranian woman who wants to leave the country, taking her husband Nader and their young daughter in the hope of a better life. Nader refuses to leave simply because wants to care for his old father who is suffering from Alzheimer. As a result a dispute ensues which ends up in family court
