According to Khabar Online correspondent, they believe the main reason of a decline in oilfields production is that gas has not been injected to them. On the other hand, the fields have passed the second half of their productive life.
Under the Fifth Development Plan Iran's Oil Ministry is tasked with increasing the daily output to 5,150,000 barrels a day within the next five years.
However, when the 400,000 barrels a day slump of oil production is taken into account, the oil officials must raise the level of production to 5,150,000 barrels a day from one hand and make up for the predicted reduction from the other.
But Following the current trend, the scale of oil production in the country will totally plunge by 2 million barrels a day unless the development projects are implemented and gas is injected to the oilfields.
If the annual drop is not compensated, the level of oil output in 2015 will reduce to 2,200,000 barrels a day.
Oil officials say that Iran is currently producing 4.2 million barrels a day, although the figure is the at odds with the new statistics issued by OPEC estimating the total production of the country is about 3,720,000 barrels a day. However based on its own figures, Iran's Oil Ministry must increase the output to 950,000 barrels a day by 2015.
