Ahmadinejad's nominee for the post of defense minister stressed that the nature of wars will change in the future, saying that the space will be man's next battle ground.

"Today the nature of the combats has changed and space will form a part of the military strategy of the powerful armies of the world in the future," Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said, addressing lawmakers at an open session of the parliament for examining credentials of 11 proposed ministers for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's new cabinet.

"The doctrine of the modern war is based on a major war of smart munitions and equipment and coherent and complete information," he added.

Vahidi described speed, accuracy, flexibility and rapid deployment and arrangement of missiles, centered power in place and time, boost of fire in the entire battle ground, the possibility of visibility at any time and place and sudden surprise of the enemy as among the major traits and features of future wars.

"The command and control in a battlefield will be of vital importance in future as well," he added.

Today's open session of parliament started with the presence of 195 parliament deputies, the lawmakers studied credentials of 11 of the nominees proposed by President Ahmadinejad for the country's 10th government.

The parliament's final decision on the proposed ministers will come out tomorrow evening when it will separately vote for each of the nominees.

The Parliament will hold sessions both in the morning and in the afternoon today.

The Iranian parliament in two separate sessions on Monday, examined the credentials of the nominees for the ministries of Education, Communications, Information, Economy and Finance, Foreign Affairs and Commerce.

President Ahmadinejad appeared in the parliament's two sessions to defend his proposed cabinet.
