Iran and Poland have reached an agreement to produce a movie that will focus on Polish immigration to Iran during World War II.

The agreement was recently signed by Polish Cultural and Press Attaché Radoslaw Pytlak and Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation (FCF) Director Ahmad Mir-Alaii.

Iranian filmmaker Khosro Sinaii will direct “Winter Train” along with a Polish producer, the FCF announced in a press release on Saturday.

According to the agreement, cast and crew will be hired from both countries based on their potential for the film.

Pytlak said that his country will do its best in the production of the film, whose aim is recording an important human event.

Shooting will take place in both countries and should be completed within a year.

World War II was devastating to Poland, as not only was the country’s Jewish population almost totally annihilated during the war, but also millions of non-Jewish Poles died as well. A great number of the population was forced to flee from their homeland to seek refuge in other countries around the world including Iran.
