Expectations of Iranian football star Ali Karimi to play again in Bundesliga have not been met, however he is supposed to play for Schalke 04 against FC Bayern Munich in DFB Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

In the last Bundesliga match when Schalke played against FC Nürnberg, the head coach Felix Magath preferred not to include Karimi in the 18 players list and raised the question why the veteran manager has recruited the Iranian celebrated footballer. In Shalke vs. Borussia Dortmund game, Karimi sat on the bench for the first time, but later on, he has had no place in the 18 players list.

The "magician" as he was titled, has no distress about the problem saying that it's quite normal for a new player to be kept out of the matches at the beginning, since playing in Bundesliga is not an easy job. Nowadays settling at his home, Karimi is simply carrying out his exercises and surfing in the internet. It's quite possible that he enjoys an amazing restart in Germany.

Previously the 32-year-old midfielder enjoyed a spell in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich from 2005 until 2007 although he never really managed to secure regular first football at the giant Bavarians.

Now, he would possibly play a crucial match against Bayern in DFB Cup semi-finals which may put him at the top of Iranian football news. Reportedly Magath has talked with Karimi to play in the match. In the meantime, the German manager has been put under pressure by fans for signing with Iranian midfielder and the Greek Angelos Charisteas. So, he decided to adopt a special policy, to avoid putting Karimi in the ongoing matches immediately. He has declared to the director of Karimi's programs he will use Iranian star if only he becomes quite fit.

Magath believes simply a good show enables Karimi to get a fine opportunity, otherwise both he and the "magician" will be put increasingly under pressure.

The midfielder has told his close friends: "I'm currently under a severe fitness training and most probably will play against Bayern Munich.

Capping 112 times for his country, the "magician" played in Bundesliga for Bayern in 2007. He is the only Iranian player who returns to Bundesliga after some years of hiatus. Earlier striker Vahid Hashemian had left VFL Bochum and unlike previous years, Iran did not have any footballer to play for a German club.

Karimi recruited the Germans from Tehran-based Steel Azin FC with a five months contract which lasts by the end of this season.
