According to the official figures, per capita marriage in Tehran province is lower than the other Iranian provinces.

On the contrary, the divorce rate in the province has crucially increased. The situation is as grave that even the government officials make no attempt to conceal it.

The information and statistics deputy of Iranian Cultural and Social Council of Women, A'zam Rampanahi described the marriage rate in various Iranian provinces: "The figures of registered marriages for each province reveals that naturally the rate of registered marriages in provinces with a big population is upper than those which are sparsely populated. So if we notice the rate of the registered marriages in proportion with the population of our provinces, the frequency rate of marriage in the country will be achieved."

"As the figures give evidence, the provinces of North Khorasasn with 1.49 percent, Ardebil with 1.48, Chehar Mahal and Bakhtiari with 1.48 will respectively stay at the top of the table. On the other hand, the provinces of Tehran with 0.91 percent, Sistan and Balouchestan with 0.95 percent and Semnan with 1.03 percent will be placed at the bottom," she said.

Rampanahi declared that according to the official statistics in terms of marriage Tehran province has the lowest rate: "The pathology of marriage reveals that from one hand divorce is directly related to unemployment problem and from the other to the development extent of our provinces."

She however did not specify that why Tehran province with the highest rate of development has stayed at the bottom of table.
