The head of Iran's Football Federation, Ali Kafashian denied any talk to Turkish coach, Fateh Trim for managing Iran's national soccer team and backed incumbent coach, Afshin Qotbi. However Iranian-American Qotbi is complaining about the negotiations some Iranian football officials made with Trim.

Speaking to Khabar Online correspondent, Kafashian said: "You journalists spread rumors and then contact me to deny them! When did I discuss with Fateh Trim? I am the chief and any replacement in national team management should be channeled by me. It's not important if anybody else discussed with Trim. I have the last word saying Qotbi will keep his position as the head coach for the Asian Cup Championship."

It should be noted that earlier IFF head had said that the will back former national soccer team head coach and star player Ali Daei. But due to the weak results, midway through qualifying matches for World Cup 2010, Daei was finally replaced by Qotbi. However Iran at last failed to be qualified for the most important soccer event.

Following the brief interview, Kafashian provided a technical analysis of Iran's latest matches which gained the attention of our correspondent.

"I myself feel that my technical football knowledge has sharply improved. It obsesses me to be the head coach of national soccer team (laughs). If you do something to remove Qotbi, I myself will lead our national team!" he said.

Recent disappointing results achieved by Iran's national soccer team such as losing 3-2 to Qatar in their first game of a four-nation friendly tournament followed by a loss to Mali, have prompted some experts to speculate that Iran's Football Federation is exploring possible replacements for Qotbi.
