The Iranian president’s chief of staff and advisor, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei criticized some news which he called baseless.

In his weblog yesterday, he described the way Ahmadinejad selected cabinet line-up and reasons behind the removal of some ministers.

In this writing which is set in Political News section of his weblog, Rahim Mashaei has announced that what is being said as "Ahmadinejad has picked his new ministers in obedience to Mashaei" is "fiction", "a clear and strange lie" and "an explicit contempt to the president and proposed ministers". He has followed that such remarks "are to damage the wise and intentional selection of the president who has chosen his ministers through research and study. Also they have targeted the prestige of the new ministers."

Mashaei claims that his writing is "a response to what has been came out of deceitful media". But before that, in the first day of evaluating Ahmadinejad's proposed cabinet to be ratified by Parliament (Majlis), Ali Motahari, lawmaker and the representative of Tehran addressed Ahmadinejad and called him the follower of Mashaei in cultural issues. Motahari questioned Ahmadinejad for eliminating the ministers of Energy, Health, Culture and Islamic Guidance: "Is it right to remove those who have underlined their obedience to the rule of jurisprudent (Faqih) for your curiosity to Mashaei?" A question which remained unanswered by the Head of Government.

But in his note, Mashaei has written that "Ahmadinejad picks his ministers based on his faith to God, religious duty and sense of national responsibility. Even those who are not that much close to Ahmadinejad are aware of this fact, let alone those who have worked with him."

Safar Harandi unable to attract the artists

"Feebleness in the domain of culture and art, inability to attract the artists and to meet the demands of the society" are among the reasons Mashaei has raised for the removal of the former Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Hossein Safar Harandi which "of course have nothing to do with the character and revolutionary competence of the dear brother, Mr. Safar Harandi."

Mohseni Eje'ei unable to foresee

As well as "weakness in the information management during the days after the recent presidential election" the former Minister of Intelligence, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Eje'ei "was unable to realize the conspiracy", Mashaei writes. These are among the problems which according to Mashaei incited Ahmadinejad to make changes in Ministry of intelligence, eliminate the minister and conduct the related events himself. "Even the respectful minister acknowledged that he couldn't manage the latest events." As Mashaei claims, "from nearly a year ago a conspiracy had been seriously planned by the foreign intelligent services and related elements inside the country to disturb the presidential election." However he follows: "making amendments to two ministries of Culture and Intelligence had been predicted more than a year ago, so removal of many officials including two respectful ministers was predictable." As Mashaei comments such eliminations "have nothing to do with the character of our respected brother, Mohseni Eje'ei and the sincere employees of Ministry of Intelligence, but is related to the way of managing the ministry which entirely was not successful."

Three ministers who were not female

In the other parts of his writing, Mashaei explains that Ahmadinejad began to study on employing female ministers, "At first he decided to appoint them for three ministries of Welfare and Social Security, Education and Health." According to Mashaei the only reason for the removal of the three former ministers was assigning three women to replace them, "In this way the president began to research and explore for finding the best candidates."

He also claims that the allegations about Sadeq Mahsouli (Interior Minister of the 9th Government) which say he has indignantly left the government "are basically false" and his removal is because Ahmadinejad wanted to appoint him for the Ministry of Defense or Ministry of Energy which was not approved by Mahsouli. "Mr. Mahsouli was interested in following his work in Interior Ministry. His removal is not related to his ability and efficiency for taking a ministry office. It happened simply because Dr. Ahmadinejad realized that some changes are necessary in Interior Ministry."
