Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Chief Mohsen Rezaei and a former Parliament member Akbar Alami have officially registered their candidacy for Iran's presidential election on June 12.

Their registration came on May 9 at Iran's Interior Ministry registration center, the Iranian students news agency reported.

Ahmadinejad and Rezaei are both from the principlist front and Alami from the reformist platform.

Also the former Iranian Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi and the former Parliament Speaker Mehdi Karoubi both from reformist platform have announced to run for presidency but have not registered yet.

The incumbent President Ahmadinejad, who was elected president in 2005, had not officially declared his candidacy for elections until he signed up on Friday.

Also the former President Mohammad Khatami who had declared his bid to run in the election withdrew from the race in a statement on March 16 in favor of Mir Hossein Mousavi.
